Our Story

“Founded on April 5th, 2022, Nagomi Bento began selling at farmers markets and local events. We were later selected by the Nibble Kitchen incubation facility, run by the Somerville Arts Council. Now, we have a regular store, marking the start of Chapter 3. We are excited to continue expanding our community.”

From Athlete to Chef:

My bento journey began in middle school as a competitive athlete in Japan. I learned to make healthy, nutritious meals that kept me in shape and sparked my passion for cooking. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a chef and kept at it even after my sports career ended.

A few things popped up along the way: school, moving to America, and becoming a senior tax accountant for a Big Four accounting firm. I know firsthand the joy that a thoughtful bento brings to everyday life for myself, my family, and my friends. It is my honor and pleasure to provide this moment of comfort, an expression of care, and the feeling of nagomi!
